Tiverton High School is a community of scholars seeking truth and its appropriate application to their lives. The educational program is designed to enhance this search and therefor must include.


  • Recognition of the varying abilities, interests and achievements among students, and encouragement of a sense of pride within the school community;

  • Maintenance of high academic standards;

  • Development of the skills of comprehension, analysis, and synthesis as the components of the rational process;

  • Provision of preparatory programs for those whose pursuits will depend upon subsequent education, and the provision of vocational programs for those whose formal education will be completed upon graduation;

  • Support for the ideals of equal opportunity by developing an appreciation and respect for human dignity and the beliefs of others;

  • Commitment to the idea that the quality of life in any community depends upon the willingness of the individual to do or be his/her best;

  • Development of an understanding of an appreciation for our diverse cultural and aesthetic heritage's;

  • Provision for an atmosphere that nurtures the development of a positive self-image in each individual;

  • Recognition of the characteristics of health, social interaction, and the provision opportunities for students to enhance their abilities to form and sustain appropriate relationships;

  • Fostering of creative attitudes and the provision of setting for that creative expression which enhances the fullness of life; and

  • Commitment to the idea that skillful use of language is basic to learning in all disciples and to the study of literature as the verbal expression of the society and primary means by which a culture describes itself.
