V. A. 12. Lunch Program


The West Warwick School Department, demonstrating its concern for the welfare of those pupils who require the service, shall authorize free or reduced price lunches for eligible children in accordance with state law.

Free and Reduced Hot Lunch

It shall be the responsibility of the individual school principal to identify and designate children who are eligible to participate in the reduced price and free lunch program. A system of collecting and accounting for the reduced prices and free meals shall be maintained in a manner that shall protect identification of these children. Appeals of individual cases shall be directed to the principal, superintendent of schools, and West Warwick School Committee in order of appeals, who shall re-examine any case that has been disapproved.

State of Rhode Island Annual Poverty Income Guidelines shall be used to determine eligibility.

Principals shall be responsible to supply applications for free or reduced price meals at their offices in their respective schools. Information concerning pupils participating in this program shall be kept strictly confidential by all school authorities.
