V. A. 3. Resident Students
A resident pupil shall be defined as a pupil whose parent(s) or legal guardian(s) reside in the Town of West Warwick.
The residence or domicile of the parent(s) is normally the legal residence of the child. In cases where the parents are separated, as a general rule, the domicile of the mother, in the absence of a judicial determination, shall be regarded as the legal residence of the child. In all other cases, each one must be treated separately and a determination made on the facts of each case. Where a legal guardian has been appointed, the residence of the guardian is the residence of the child.
Legal guardianship must be awarded by decree from a court of competent jurisdiction.
