Step Two: Pamphlet Creation
Step Two
The Pamphlet Visitors at the Jane and David Allen Manatee Exhibit need to be informed about manatees in general as well as Hugh and Buffett, the sea mammals they will be observing in captivity. Sometimes there are long lines, and the management feels that people would both enjoy and benefit from an informative and fun pamphlet that they can read in line and take home as a keepsake from their visit. The second part of this application process involves the creation of such a pamphlet by all people interested in the position here at Mote Marine Laboratories. A sample pamphlet format is attached which indicates the proper placement of all of the required elements listed here.
Pamphlet Score Sheet 5 points ______A title page that includes a creative title and appropriate pictures which enhance the look of the cover. 10 points ______An acrostic poem using the word MANATEE that includes fun and factual information not mentioned elsewhere in the pamphlet. 10 points ______A Hugh section and a Buffet section that outline key facts about each of the two mammals that people will be seeing. 10 points ______A section on EEDs that explains the need for them, shows samples of some, and encourages people to create their own. 10 points ______Information and diagrams that explain testing of vision and lung capacity. 5 points ______Diet information and statistics. 20 points _____A serious statement (2 paragraphs in length) that explains why manatees are endangered and how we can help this species make a full recovery. This statement should include data and statistics on the decline of manatees over the past few years. 10 points _____Pamphlet should be professional and neat with no pencil marks and a ruler used for all writing. All sections of the pamphlet should be separated by a neat and appropriate border. 10 points _____All color and pictures should be added in a neat way that is both an accurate depiction of these sea mammals and enhances the look of the poster. 10 points _____Pamphlet is completed by the due date, and the applicant is on task during in-class time that is provided
