Since the release of the Secretary's Report on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS Report) and the publication of Nation at Risk almost two decades ago, districts across the country have worked to develop curriculum that is aligned to standards. The model lessons included here were designed to address standards as well. Inherently, all address the ISTE standards, and most address the New Standards, particularly those for applied learning and English/Language Arts. The lessons, however, have been designed by media specialists, technology coordinators, and high school and middle school teachers from several disciplines. In adapting the models, the user should consider the of standards specific

to each discipline and how they interface with the communication, research, and technology skills outlined in the ISTE and New Standards document. Those districts that have developed standards-based curricula for teachers to follow, in most cases, adapted these from one of the national standards documents. In any case, the sample lessons and units included on videoconferencing should offer the user a wide array of standards from which to choose.
